U.S. Congress is going on Vacation YET AGAIN!

boehner and pelosiIt’s that time of the month again…

No not that one silly.

After failing to accomplish anything on gun control, the sequester or anything of any importance our U.S. Congressmen and women have decided to take yet another vacation.  Yes, that’s right.  For the next 10 days our elected representatives will garner the opportunity to reapply their spray tan (i.e. Speaker Boehner), get new Botox injections (i.e. Minority Leader Pelosi) and work on perfecting the art of doing nothing

Now you may have read the title and thought I was simply reposting a previous blog post.  Oh how I hoped that was the case.  After taking a vacation for what seemed like half the year, our buddies in Washington D.C. are tired.  With this upcoming Monday being a federal holiday (President’s Day) they’ve decided to give themselves the week off.  What’s another four days off.  They’ve elected to take a President’s Week recess.

Heck, we may get lucky and some of these people might actually read a history book.  They might see that in our history we’ve had periods of partisanship yet somehow we’ve always managed to rise above it.  They might actually learn that they have a job.  At least they are paid to do one.  Now as I have argued before, politicians won’t actually accomplish much unless their entitlements are in jeopardy.  The passing of the “No Budget No Pay” bill is one of many needed steps to procuring long-term, fiscal order.

Someone previously commented that these “recesses” are enacted to give our Congress time to come back “home” and meet with their constituents.  Yes, it may have been deemed as the official excuse, but I don’t buy it.  When’s the last time you met with your Congressman/woman?  Do you even know who they are?

I don’t think it is that much of a stretch to be somewhat skeptical of what our politicians do with their “free time.”  Former Congressman Jessie Jackson Jr. isn’t the first congressman to inappropriately abuse his position.  I’m I to believe others don’t as well?

Our politicians don’t do much.  They spend all week whining about their opponents and their hesitations to compromise.  Now if you think I am too harsh on these representatives then all I can say to you is this:

Where do I sign up?  I can perfect the art of doing nothing just as well, for half the money.

What do you think?

Are you even surprised?

The reason for THIS vacation is because the ‘State of the Union’ address was so riveting. They were all stunned & rev-ed up to come home & finally do some work….NOT! You ask who they are. My question is if they are home, then where are they. Do they hold town meetings, meet & greets. A very few do, but what do the others do? Yeah sign me up & the entitlements too!

“perfecting the art of doing nothing” That about sums it up.
